All dressed up for a wedding - where would you get married in Hitchin?

Having already walked down the aisle I am now relegated to the subs bench as a guest or a matron of honour. But whether your the bride, a guest or the matron of honour every girls wants to look her best.

I am attending a wedding reception this weekend and I have been lucky enough to buy my complete outfit, apart from the shoes from Pink Blossom in Bucklersbury.

But, where would you buy an outfit and where are the best venues for a wedding and a reception in Hitchin be?

In all the time I have been in Hitchin I've never seen a wedding party outside of St Mary's Church but that doesn't mean that it is not bookable. This would be an idyllic setting with photographs been taken alongside the River Hiz, with the Church as a stunning backdrop.

The Priory, just of Bridge Street and Tilehouse Street is a popular choice for  wedding receptions and with the advent of marriage licences being allowed for wedding serviceshleld outside of the Church and registry office the grounds of the Priory, in good weather of course, would be ideal.

But what about the dress? Hitchin is ideally placed for bridal shops. Three immediately spring to mind,  Morgan Davies in Sun Street, Expressions Bridalwear in Hermitage Road and White Wardrobe in Bancroft. For the blushing bride to be this is an ideal scenario as they have plenty of dresses to try on and choose from. What more could a girl ask for?

Have you recently got married in the Hitchin area? Where would you recommend?  Have you tried any of these shops? Let our readers know your thoughts...

I am getting married next year and I want to make my day a very special one. I am attending every bridal show near our area to gather some ideas on what to do with my own wedding. From wedding gowns and flowers to the wedding venue, the decorations should be superb. I checked out wedding aisle runners from http://tinyurl.com/6y4v43m which caught my attention and I do want to create my own runners. My guests should be impressed with my own design and when I walk down the aisle, I want them to always remember that moment. I am very excited and I am now searching for good decorations for the reception.

It was a real bonus! We did manage one photo outside, well by the door, under cover!
We were given Vicky as our dedicated wedding planner and she was great. I love The Priory.

I bet not having to go outside much in January was a massive bonus. I've been to a couple of things at the Priory and they always put on great food and the surroundings are wonderful. Did they have a dedicated Wedding Planner when you got married there?

I got married and had the reception at The Priory in January 2008 - it was a fantastic location!

Realising that the the weather probably wasn't going to be at it's best in January (and it wasn't, it rained ALL day and ALL night!) I wanted a venue where the guests could arrive and not have to worry about coats, scarves, umbrellas etc until they left in the small hours.

The Priory was brilliant as we had a room where we got married, a room where we ate and a room where had the reception. Evrything ran seamlessly.

The pictures looked fab, the guests loved the location and more importantly, the bride and groom had a truly memorable day!

Highly recommended - even on a cold miserable January day!
