A deserted pub in Hitchin which stopped trading in 2008 could be demolished to make way for a brand new housing development
An application has been put in to build on the brownfield land where The Orchard and Anvil pub on Nightingale road is situated. The boarded up building has sat unused and neglected for three years with many local residents describing it as an 'eyesore'.
Planning permission is being sought to knock it down and build a block of 12 flats in its place.
The new development would include 10 two bedroom flats and two one bedroom flats. They would be accompanied by car parking, an amenity area and cycle and bin stores on site.
