Hertfordshire Heritage at Risk

With modernisation and expansion being the watchwords of Hitchin recently is anyone sparing a thought for some of the local heritage that is now listed on the 'Heritage at Risk' register?
-
Ruins of St Etheldreda
-
Knebworth House
Even though we already know that Hitchin itself is teeming with historical buildings surely those that are in its vicinity should also be looked after.
Knebworth House is the prime example of this and has made media headlines recently by being recently listed as a 'at risk' property. A wing and its 16th century courtyard are in poor condition and in need of repair. Even though it is a Grade II Listed building it is showing signs of neglect.
Even older than Knebworth is the remains of a 14th Century Church in Chesfield in Gravely. This falls under the remit of the Hitchin/Harpenden constituency and is the remains of the church of St Etheldreda.
These buildings need to be preserved for future generations to enjoy as these types of building are what make Britain great and unique.
