Market Traders of Hitchin - their opinions?

Much is being made of the plan to re-home the towns market to the old Market Square in Hitchin.

Narrow street of Bucklersbury
Having to walk up and down Sun Street and Bucklersbury on a daily basis it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that market days would create havoc in all the surrounding streets and roads that give access to the market square.
It is quite commom to see vans and lorries trying to offload goods on both roads and whereas Sun Street does have recessed loading bays allowing for traffic to pass through unhindered Bucklersbury does not have such luxury. With the road being so narrow it is commonplace to see queues forming as vehicles wait to pass while deliveries are being completed.
Add to this chaos the extra traffic that a market would generate with traders vans and trucks and Bucklersbury in particular will become a no go zone for traffic. All it takes is for one badly parked car on Bucklersbury and everything will grind to a halt.
With buildings on Bucklersbury being so old there is little option for road widening, as the pavements are virtually non existant already and add to that the bollards that have been placed along one side of the pavement to prevent parking, which in themselves cause problems, when some inconsiderate driver parks on the other side of the road meaning larger vehicles struggle to pass.
But is there any other option for the market in Hitchin? What do the traders themselves think? Will this mean the death of the market in Hitchin as we know it? Only time will tell.
