Police Appeal for Witnesses after Unexplained Collision in Stevenage this morning

Hertfordshire Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a one vehicle road traffic collision which happened in Stevenage this morning Sunday 4th December.

Did you witness the collision on Gunnels Wood Road this morning?
The incident occurred at around 7.30am when a blue BMW 3 Series, which was travelling on the northbound carriageway of Gunnels Wood Road, was in collision with the central reservation, for reasons unknown. The vehicle then passed into the southbound carriageway before coming to a stop.
The driver of the vehicle has sustained serious injuries and has been taken to the Lister Hospital for treatment.
Due to the impact of the collision, the southbound carriageway of Gunnels Wood Road, between Fairlands Way and Six Hills Way, is currently closed while the Highways Agency carries out essential repairs. However, it is expected to be reopened by early afternoon.
Sergeant Sam Cordingley from Hertfordshire Constabulary's Roads Policing Unit said: "I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision as they may have some vital information which could help us with our enquiries."
