Villagers in Offley, near Hitchin celebrated the official opening of the newly refurbished village hall on Saturday 1st October at an open day event that took place between 10am and 12pm.

The refurbished village hall was made possible by a £26,250 grant and has undergone an impressive transformation.

The new improvements include a completely renovated kitchen area, new and improved access for people with disabilities and an entirely refurbished stage.

The village hall committee, formed from members of the local community, together with villager Mrs Margaret Moss drove the project forward. The project has made remarkable head-way since it was first awarded the grant in April of this year.

Cllr Tricia Cowley, North Herts District Council's portfolio holder for Community Engagement and Rural Affairs said: "This is another shining example of what can be achieved by members of the community pulling together and working on a project that has one common goal.

"We are proud to be able to support worthwhile projects like the refurbishment of Offley Village Hall where a newly updated facility is now available for the whole community to enjoy for many years to come."

Mrs Margaret Moss said: "I would like to thank North Herts District Council for the grant to carry out the work and the help they have given us to renovate the hall. I would also like to thank the builders who carried out the work. They were helpful and courteous, I couldn't have wished for more."
