National Libraries Day: What's happening in North Herts and Stevenage

Here it is: Our final list of what will be going on around North Herts and Stevenage in celebration of National Libraries Day this Saturday (February 4).

As well as the events in branches listed below, don't forget to check out our list of NLD12 activities that you can do regardless of which library you use, and what you plan to do on the day.

• Hitchin: The branch has organised a special Baby Rhyme Time from 10.30am. We'll have a pledge box there and will be staffing it for as much of the day as possible ourselves. Do come in and say hello!
• Letchworth: We'll have a pledge box in this branch during the day – with volunteers on hand to help you sign up during the morning. Local poetry group Poetry ID are also likely to be performing during the day.
• Baldock: We'll have a pledge box in this branch during the day – and will be attempting to get it staffed for a couple of hours during the afternoon.
• Royston: We understand that plans are afoot for a special story time and a NLD coffee morning organised by by the local WI branch and reading group – please check with the branch for details.
• Bishops Stortford: This library is organising NLD events for schools and may also have some activities on the day – please check with them for details.
• Stevenage, Knebworth and Stevenage Old Town: We don't know of any specific events going on in these branches – but library fans in this part of Hertfordshire can still sign up to pledges, make a National Libraries Day visit, take part in our book trail or try our other suggestions for library fans. But the single most important thing you can do on National Libraries Day is to visit your local branch for half an hour. This is even more important if you haven't been along for a while, or aren't sure what libraries have to offer you – it is a great opportunity to find out and show your support at the same time.
