Kingshott School were delighted to have been placed runners up in this year's National SATIPS Handwriting Competition. Kingshott pupils from years 2-8 enter the competition each year to provide a focus for handwriting and to help in the monitoring of children's handwriting through the School. Those children under 11 had to reproduce set poems in their best handwriting. At 11+ they have to choose their own poems. On an individual basis Guy Johns was Highly Commended in the 7 to 8 year old category while Dylan Cox was Highly Commended in the over 11 category. Kai Jessop did very well in winning First Place for the U8's. Dominic Ross won First Place in the 7 to 8 year old category. Head of English Mr Stokes said "I agree with those who state there is a link between handwriting and spelling, 'the memory of the hand'...It is also important to be accurate (copying out a poem involves concentration!). And, of course, handwriting reflects the individual."
