A teenage boy was attacked and robbed in what appears to be an unprovoked attack in Hitchin on Friday evening.
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this crime or who thinks they may know who the offenders are.
Sometime between 9.45pm and 10.15pm, the victim, a 15-year-old boy from Hitchin, had been socialising with friends on Windmill Hill when he was approached by two or three males.
It is believed one of the males bumped into the teenager and then started to shout abusive language at him. The victim started to walk away when one of the males struck him in the face twice. When the victim fell to the floor the offenders then kicked him. He suffered injuries to his face and right hand.
The offenders took the bag the victim was carrying on his shoulder and made off. Many of the items were discarded at the bottom of the hill but the cash that was in the bag was stolen.
The first offender is described as being white, aged 15-17, 6ft tall, wearing dark clothing. The one or two other teenage males with him were possibly wearing hooded tops.
DC Jeanette Walker, who is investigating the incident, said: "I would like to speak to anyone who believes they saw the incident and who hasn't spoken to police yet.
"Or, if you think you know who these males are, then I urge you to contact me as soon as possible."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference G1/12/1128. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
