A completely new sporting initiative is kicking off in Hitchin for ladies aged 16-25.
Hertfordshire FA and North Herts District Council (NHDC) have teamed up to create 'Kick Yourself Fit'.
Kick Yourself Fit are 'turn up and play' football sessions held every week for women of all fitness levels and abilities, especially good for those who haven't played for a while or have never played before. Everyone is welcome - just come along, meet other like-minded people and have some fun.
Playing football is a great way to stay fit and provides people with a total body workout. It's also great for beating the blues as sessions can improve mood, confidence and self esteem, as well as help reduce stress and aid better sleep.
Cllr Tricia Cowley, NHDC's portfolio holder for community engagement, said: "We're really pleased to have teamed up with Hertfordshire FA to offer these sessions. Taking part in a regular sporting activity like football is a great way to get fit and meet new people. I hope that a lot of local ladies will come along to give it a go."
The sessions are funded through the Sportivate scheme from Sport England as part of the Places, People, Play initiative. Costing £3, they kick off on Wednesday 5th October, 6-7 pm at North Herts College, Hitchin.
